Freedom Ryder Customer Testimonials

“When I lost my mobility due to injuries I sustained in the Air Force, I felt lost and isolated. So many activities I had participated in previously were now denied to me. Along with many other things, I could no longer ride a traditional bicycle, or participate on bike rides with my family and friends.

The E-1 handcycle from FreedomRyder has changed all of that! It is the mobility aid that has restored my freedom!  Since receiving it in May of 2024, I have put more than 2300 miles on it, and lost 45 pounds through a healthy diet and riding the handcycle!  I am able to ride with family and friends again, and get out and explore different trails while enjoying the great outdoors.

Thank you Freedom Ryder!”

frequently asked questions

Who is the FreedomRyder designed for?

Anyone who propels primarily with their arms: amputee riders, injured veterans, adaptive athletes, and wheelchair users who simply want exercise and independence.

Yes. The bottom bracket adjusts both horizontally and vertically to accommodate many heights and sizes.  We can recommend specific fit instructions in a fitting call upon request.

This varies greatly depending on what level of assist you’re using as well as how much you use pure throttle.  If you’re riding with heavy levels of assist it’s safe to assume you’ll get about 20 miles of battery.  If you lightly use the assistance and primarily rely on your own arm-power, some people have reported getting over 100 miles out of a charge.  Of course, if you use no battery at all then you can ride forever!

Yes!  We recommend raising your assist levels to 4-5 when climbing any hills.  If it’s an especially steep hill, riders can use their throttle button to get them up the final hump and over to the other side.

In general, wheelchair users who can propel themselves on level ground in a standard wheelchair can expect to ride our handcycles.  The electric assist makes it quite easy for anyone to slowly build the strength required to ride.  If you have any particular circumstances, feel free to let us know in a call and we’ll try and help you find a solution.

The E1 electric handcycle is $6350.  We offer special 12/month financing through Affirm for those who qualify.  Additionally, for veterans we can help you get in touch with the correct VA to see if you qualify.
